Moody Performance Hall was created through a unique community-focused design process. During its development, the City of Dallas conducted in-depth interviews with over 75 local performing arts groups to determine exactly what was needed in a new venue. The result is a highly functional, user-oriented facility with an unusual degree of acoustic flexibility, capable of accommodating a wide variety of performance types.

LED Mesh “Curtain”: In place of a traditional grand drape, the stage features a programmable LED mesh curtain with color-changing nodes that serves as a canvas for changing electronic artwork, creating a contemporary and visually stunning entrance to performances.

Acoustic Design: The poured-in-place concrete side walls feature complex sound diffusion techniques and a board-formed rough wood texture that enhances the acoustic response and blends lateral sound reflections. Double-layer wool serge tapestries can be lowered for added sound absorption.

Sustainable Design: The venue achieved LEED Platinum certification through energy-efficient design, including a concrete enclosure, sustainable material selections, local product sourcing, and efficient mechanical and electrical systems.
